NFL Week 9: DFS Picks | FanDuel DraftKings

This week features only two games with a projected total over 50 points, both with afternoon kickoffs: Lions at Raiders (50.5 Total) and the Buccaneers at Seahawks (51.0 Total). I tend to shy away from low scoring games and we have two this week with a total under 40, yikes: Redskins at Bills (37.0 Total) and Browns at Broncos (39.0 Total).

As always, check back on Sunday and follow us on twitter @theDFSpost for updates closer to kickoff. With all that being said, here are our NFL Week 9 picks for the 10 game main slate as it stands right now:

Sure, you can play Russell Wilson but here are some other top-end plays you can consider:
Matthew Stafford – Do we go back to the well after he’s crushed it two weeks in a row? The Raiders give up the sixth highest FPPG to QB’s this year and with this game projected to be high scoring it’s not a bad play at all. It is important to note those two recent games he crushed were at home so you could be contrarian and let others roll with the recency bias.
Jameis Winston – Sticking with the other high scoring game on the slate you can look at Winston. Yes, it’s a little ugly and he will turn the ball over but looking at his last 4 of 5 games he’s thrown over 300 yards and has had multiple TD’s in those games. They will be playing from behind so he’s going to be chucking it.
Philip Rivers – They fired their offensive coordinator this week and I think this will reinvigorate Rivers. Also, he hasn’t had easy matchups over his last 4 games (@CHI, @TEN, Pit and Den) which has depressed his salary. The Packers are middle of the pack defensively and getting Rivers close to $5k is a steal – getting 5x isn’t out of the question and people probably won’t roster him. Derek Carr for value is also a decent play against the Lions who give up the 3rd most FPPG to QBs as well as Mitch Trubisky against the Eagles who give up the 5th most FPPG to QBs. Keep an eye out for ownership.

First off, if James Conner is out Jaylen Samuels is a lock. Then you can pick from:
Dalvin Cook – He’s one of the top backs in the league and he faces the Chiefs who are giving up the fourth most FPPG to RBs. Even though they are passing the ball more he’s still averaged close to 30 FPPG over his last two games. There is no line yet but Cook will be the top pay-up at the position.
Mark Walton – Should get the start after was Drake was traded and he isn’t a bad play for value (He played over 90% of the snaps last week). The Jets allow a ton of receiving yards to RBs and Walton has seen 6 targets twice over his last 3 games. If he can get to 20 touches he should smash this salary.
Josh Jacobs – A few thing are in Jacob’s favor (1) Raiders are favorites (2) Lions have given up over 120+ rushing yards per game (3) They’ve allowed the 5th most FPPG to RBs (4) No team has allowed more receiving yards to RBs than Lions. The downside is that he’s seen his salary climb to a point he needs to have a good game, not an average game, to cover. He should do it though.
Other plays you can look at are: Chris Carson, Melvin Gordon, Phillip Lindsay and Austin Ekeler

you have to LOCK in Le’veon Bell

As always, I like to stack my WR’s with my QB’s and also run it back with WRs from the other side in close game. So we’re looking at Kenny Golladay, Chris Godwin, Keenan Allen, Marvin Jones Jr, Mike Evans and Mike Williams. On the other side DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Allen Robinson and Tyrell Williams. Naturally, because these are all in high scoring games, they all have good matchups. Other Wideouts that are popping in my models are: Robby Anderson, DJ Moore and Diontae Johnson. All the WR’s I will roster will be from this pool.
On FanDuel – Godwin and Evans are quite expensive – Golladay and Locket are my favorites.

Hunter Henry – The TE pool is pretty weak this week. Continuing the passing game stack we have Henry who averages over 7 targets per game and the Packers are middle of the pack with FPPG to Tight Ends but they have been vulnerable recently.
Darren Waller – A constant producer each weak, and like mentioned above, has a great matchup. The Lions give up the 5th most FPPG to TE’s and there is no reason, except roster construction, not to play Waller.
VALUE – Jonnu Smith (If Delanie Walker is out) or Cameron Brate (if he plays)

Rather than do individual stacks, this week it’s really about game stacks:
• Stafford + Golladay/Jones Jr. + bring it back with Williams/Waller
• Winston + Godwin/Evans + bring it back with Lockett/Metcalf
• Rivers + Allen/Hunter + well, Adams
All have good matchups this week but I think my strategy will be paying down at QB, and maybe even RB based on the Conner news, so I can squeeze in these top WR plays and hope for huge games to take down a GPP. I’ll update this section Sunday. For Cash, I’ll probably still pay down at QB but want more of a floor with a RB like Cook or Jacobs
